Apprentice Mate (Steersman) Upgrade
The Apprentice Mate (Steersman) course is a 16 hour course covering required competencies listed in Title 46 CFR Table 10.910-2.
The course contents will be presented as a discussion of the history and principles of the towing industry, review of ship handling principles,
review of emergency procedures, discussion of watch-standing duties and responsibilities, review of barge regulations (operations) and review of
ship/barge construction.
The Sea Academy Inc. office will walk you through the process of adding this endorsement to your license.
